Privacy policy

Effective and last updated:

Your reflections belong to you. Mosey records and processes them on your devices, with no account required and no developer-operated server holding your journal.

This policy covers the Mosey iPhone app, its Apple Watch app, widgets, and these Mosey legal pages. Mosey is provided by Darren Tracey in Ireland (“we”, “us”). For privacy questions or requests, email hello@track.hair and mention Mosey. Darren Tracey is the data controller for personal information processed in operating Mosey.

Mosey is a separate app from Track Hair; Track Hair’s app privacy policy does not describe Mosey’s data handling.

1. What stays on your devices

Depending on the features you use, Mosey stores or processes:

Recordings, transcription, and summaries are processed on your device using Apple’s speech and on-device Apple Intelligence frameworks. Mosey does not upload your recordings, transcripts, reflections, or health information to us, RevenueCat, or a cloud AI service. Language and AI models may need to be downloaded from Apple before these features work. Availability depends on your device, language, and settings.

Mosey does not provide its own cloud journal or iCloud journal sync. Apple system backups may include app data according to your device and backup settings. Apple Health has its own storage, backup, and sync settings, independent of Mosey. We cannot access your personal Apple backups or Health account.

2. Permissions and optional features

You can decline or revoke permissions in your device settings and turn optional prompts off in Mosey. Features that depend on a permission may stop working; other available features remain usable.

3. Apple Watch transfers

The Watch app keeps recordings locally while they wait to transfer to your paired iPhone through Apple’s WatchConnectivity. A queued recording is removed from Mosey’s Watch queue when the iPhone acknowledges receipt, or when you delete it from the queue. Selected reflection details and heart-rate moments can also be sent from the iPhone to the Watch for display. This is device-to-device functionality, not storage on a Mosey server.

4. Purchases and service providers

Apple processes App Store payments, subscriptions, refunds, and restores. We do not receive your full payment-card details. Apple may collect diagnostics and share crash or usage reports with developers according to your Apple privacy settings. See Apple’s privacy policy.

RevenueCat manages Mosey Plus subscription access. Its SDK communicates with RevenueCat even though your journal stays local. It processes a generated app user identifier, purchase and transaction information, subscription status, and technical information such as app version, operating system, device information, locale, and network information needed to provide the service. These identifiers are pseudonymous, not necessarily anonymous. We can view subscription records in RevenueCat to manage access and support purchases. We do not attach your recordings, transcripts, name, location, or Health data to those records. See RevenueCat’s privacy information.

Netlify hosts these legal pages. Delivering and protecting the pages involves processing ordinary request information, such as IP address, browser information, requested URL, and request time. These Mosey pages do not load advertising, Google Analytics, tracking scripts, or third-party fonts and do not set analytics cookies. See Netlify’s privacy information.

Support: if you email us, we receive your email address, message, and anything you choose to attach. Our email provider processes that correspondence to deliver and store it. Please share only what is needed to resolve your request; we do not need your private recordings or Health history for routine support.

Mosey has no third-party advertising or general-purpose analytics SDK. We do not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, or use your journal or health information to train our own AI models. Information we hold may be disclosed where required by law or necessary to handle a legal claim; we cannot disclose local journal content we do not possess.

For people in the EEA or UK, we use personal information only for the following purposes:

On-device summaries and prompts are suggestions for your own review. We do not use them to make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.

6. Retention and deletion

Your local journal remains on your devices until you delete it or remove the app and its data. Use Mosey’s Settings → Privacy → Delete everything to remove the app’s stored reflections, recordings, transcripts, notes, ideas, and heart-rate history from that iPhone, along with personal onboarding values and the home area. This action does not cancel a subscription.

The iPhone deletion control does not erase Apple Health entries, items already saved to Reminders or Calendar, sent messages, system backups, subscription records, or recordings still waiting on a Watch. Delete those separately in the relevant app or service. If you keep an unsent Watch recording, it may transfer to your iPhone later; delete unwanted queued recordings on the Watch too. Removing an app using Apple’s Offload App option keeps its data.

We keep support correspondence while needed to resolve your request and reasonable follow-up, and longer only when needed for a legal obligation or dispute. Subscription records are kept for providing and restoring access, resolving billing issues, and meeting applicable legal obligations. Provider logs and Apple backups follow the providers’ retention settings and obligations. Contact us to request deletion of information we or our processors hold; legal retention requirements may limit what can be erased.

7. Security and international processing

Mosey relies on Apple’s app sandbox, device protections, permission controls, and the security of our service providers. Protect your devices with a passcode and keep their software current. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.

Apple, RevenueCat, Netlify, and email providers may process service information outside Ireland, the EEA, or your country, including in the United States. Where data protection law requires it, transfers must rely on an applicable adequacy decision or appropriate contractual safeguards, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and the relevant UK safeguards. Contact us for information about safeguards applicable to information we control.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, or receive a portable copy of personal information, restrict or object to processing, and withdraw consent. Email hello@track.hair to exercise these rights. We may need proportionate information to verify a request. We cannot retrieve journal content stored only on your devices.

You can complain to your local supervisory authority. In Ireland, this is the Data Protection Commission. In the UK, it is the Information Commissioner’s Office.

9. Children and policy updates

Mosey is intended for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information through our services. Contact us if you believe a child has supplied information to us.

We may update this policy as the app changes. We will update the date above and provide additional notice or obtain consent before new processing where required. See also Mosey’s Terms of use.
